The Current Status and Evolution of Industrial relations in Sri Lanka (2009)

The paper forms part of a series of studies on the evolution of industrial relations in South Asia in the last decade. The series includes Bangladesh, three states in India –Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal-, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The papers provide an overview of the contexts in which industrial relations operate, and include an analysis of the legal system, the actors, collective bargaining, disputes settlement and social dialogue. A special focus is placed on the contribution of collective bargaining in the determination of wages at the national level.
